February 2025 to Present: Private law practice, focused on services to entrepreneurs and their businesses, across the life cycle of formation, capitalization, financing, governance, employment, contracts, licensing, trademarks and copyrights, strategic alliances, and mergers and acquisitions
July 2022 to January 2025: General Counsel and Secretary, EnviroTech Services, LLC, in Greeley, Colorado. Chief legal officer for industry leader in road surface treatments to control dust, ice and snow.
June 2020 to July 2022: Private law practice.
June 2015 – November 2019: Associate General Counsel, Patterson Companies, Inc. Chief legal officer for the animal health business unit, based in Greeley, Colorado. Industry leader in distributing medications, veterinary supplies, animal health products, technology solutions and value-added services to producers and veterinarians in the livestock industry, and companion animal veterinary practices, in the U.S. and Canada, with revenues of more than $3 billion annually. During part of this time, Patterson Companies was in the Fortune 500.
September 2011 – June 2015: General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at Animal Health International, Inc. (formerly “Lextron, Inc.”), sold to Patterson Companies in June 2015 for $1.1 billion. Chief legal officer for animal health distributor with more than $1.5 billion in annual revenue in U.S. and Canada. Supervised outside counsel in the sale to Patterson Companies.
May 1994 – August 2011: Attorney (and then partner) in the Fort Collins law firm of Fischer, Brown, Huddleson & Gunn, P.C. (1994 – 1996) and its successors, Dwyer Huddleson & Ray, P.C., (1996 – 2003) and Ringenberg, Funk & Beller, P.C. (2004 – 2011), focused on business transactions, corporate finance, and general corporate law. Began advising Lextron in 2002 in merger, acquisition and finance transactions, culminating in the acquisition of a key competitor, Walco International, Inc., for $245 million in June 2011, facilitated in part by a $100 million investment by Leonard Green & Partners.
October 1988 – May 1994: Associate attorney at Overton, Babiarz and Sykes, P.C., Denver Tech Center, focused on securities law and business transactions.
Graduated from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 1988, and from Colorado State University, with distinction in Political Science, in 1985.
Community Service:
Since April 2010: Volunteer firefighter for the Livermore Fire Protection District in Livermore, CO. Certified as Emergency Medical Technician in 2010. Promoted to Assistant Chief – Emergency Medical Services in 2013. Selected by peers as 2014 Firefighter of the Year.
2006 – 2014: Board of Directors of Discovery Science Center (now known as “Fort Collins Museum of Discovery, Nonprofit Partner”), which in 2008 became the private sector partner in the public-private collaboration to establish the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery. Contributed legal services, pro bono, for structuring an Operating Agreement with the City of Fort Collins, and in various aspects of the capital campaign and $27 million construction project, which came to fruition in 2012.

Former youth basketball coach for Fort Collins Parks and Recreation, and Highlands Ranch Falcons.
